Forestle search help

To receive even better results for your Forestle searches you can make use of the following search operators:

Operator Example Query and Explanation
" " Example query: "save rainforest"
Returns all documents that contain the all of the search terms spelled in exactly the same way and written in the same order. A document containing the phrase "save tropical rainforest" would not show up in the search results.
OR Example query: search engine OR website
All documents are listed, which contain one search term or the other. Documents that contain both search terms are also are given out.
- Example query: Energy -Coal
Returns all documents, which contain the word "Energy" but don't contain the word "coal".
+ Example query: Yealand+New
Shows documents, which contain all of the listed terms spelled in exactly the same way, but which not necessarily the in same order.
(A query with a space instead of the "+" operator would also return documents containing "New Zealand".)
site: Example query: site:bbc.co.uk CO2 Google
The search will only be performed on the specific website listed. All other websites are excluded.
Combination Example query: site:bbc.co.uk +Google -Microsoft emission OR CO2 "as much carbon dioxide as boiling a kettle"
You can also combine the various operators. But please note that the more specific search queries you use, the less results you will receive.

Indicators are a unique feature of Forestle. By using them you can directly access various search functions other than web search. If you type "images::donald duck" for example, you will directly receive the image search results. Here you can find a list of all indicators available.
